transom modification

First of all, thanks to all who participate in this wonderful site.

I have a SeaNymph 14R aluminum boat. I a also have a transom mount trolling motor. I always had my 4hp outboard and the trolling motor side by side on the transom. I now have a 15hp 4 stroke outboard and don't have room for both on the level portion of the transom. I want to build up one side of the transom to hold the trolling motor. I can cut a piece of PT lumber to follow the contour. If I drill holes and screw this on, is there sufficient material in the transom to hold it? i.e. wood inside the transom?

Thanks again...

Re: transom modification

Don't know your boat but would do exactly what you plan except I would use stainless bolts through the transom.

Re: transom modification

I'm picturing the modification setting on top of the transom and attached by placing large screws straight down into the transom. Or is a "ü-strap" over the block and bolted thru the transom going to hold better? Or both? It's 34lb thrust trolling motor.
