Transom Outboard Engine Mount

I own a 1987 Renkin with a 4.3 OMC stern drive. I would like to change over to an outboard, I'm contructing the transom mount but am some what scepticle on the mounting where can I find information on proper installation? example: height from botom of boat either a 25" or 30" shaft.

Most glass shops that do the work will have that info. Or the manufacturer of the bracket. Theres quite a bit of glass work that needs to be done and the transome angle on an IO may be different than an outboard. The bracket will pick up the difference.<br /><br />A general rule of thumb that has worked well for us is for every 5" you go back you can go up 1".
