Hello, I have a 86 BL capri w/ volvo penta 4 cyl. My question is about the gasket on the transom plate. Is this reuseable? Should i replace it, or can I put some RTV or calking on it before reassembly?

Thanks

Re: Transom plate gasket

I would say get a new gasket. The RTV or calking will not hold up, and re-using the old gasket has to much potential for leaks

The "blubber hose" is in the connecting components section and is called a sealing strip. If you set it in the groove and it still sits above the edge then don't know why you wouldn't want to re use it. Use your common sense and check for cuts, cracks, divots, flexibility, etc. to determine if it's still useable. A new one will run you around $70.

Absolutely replace the o-rings for the 6 perimeter bolts.

Thanks for the input, I will inspect it closer. I didn't even think to look for orings on the bolts, glad ya brought it up.
