I have an oportunity to buy a 22' Sylvan offshore. The owner has a disclaimer that there is about 1/8" play in the transom. Is this something to worry about?

Re: Transom Play

depends or what he calls play. the transom should be rigid. in my terms play is movement, which is a sign of a weak transom, possible rot. tilt the motor all the way up and shake hell out of it. and watch the transom, if it flexes, it's suspicous.
