Hey people I've got an easy one for you.
I've got a 15ft simi-vee bottom aluminum w/ an old 57' johnson 18hp on it . The problem is that my cavitation plate is about 2 inches below the bottom of the boat. From what I have learned here at iboats it needs to be even with the bottom of the boat. Anyone have any tips on how to build up the transom or anyway to get the motor up where it needs to be?
In casthis info is needed the transom is about 2 inches thick(give or take),about 4 feet wide and 28 inches high (about)
Thanks :p

Re: Transom Q & answer(I hope)

believe the rule of thumb tolerance is approx. one inch above to one inch below the bottom of the transom. If you are not having problems, I would just leave it alone.

To gain perhaps an inch in height (maybe more, depending on where the clamp attaches), you can mount a plate on top of the transom -- wood or metal. You will want to be sure the motor attaches firmly to the transom, of course. I don't recall whether there is a spot on your motor mount to through bolt it in place for additional safety (don't think there is).
