transom rebuild

I need to know on average, how thick is the transom (excluding glass skin)on a 1979 25-26ft Searay?<br />When trying to rebuild this transom what would the best type/grade of plywood be?<br />Is it better to use thin plywood and laminate it biaxially with epoxy resin to make up the total thickness or is this not neccesary?<br />Would laminating a sheet of aluminum into the core be beneficial?
