Took my 2012 G3 to the dealer to get the transom crack welded, can't wait to get her back out ! Dealer was very helpful and as it should be it is coverd under warranty. I hate that there was a crack after only 16 hours of use but aluminum does crack sometimes.

Got her back this afternoon, dealer said G3 will send a new motor pod if it cracks again, weld looks good. Taking the boat to lake Jackson in Florala tomorrow before the storm rolls in!

Took the toon out today and had a great time. Water temp was 84 and weather was great! Transom weld help up fine too. I plan on doing some winter cruises this year , in south Bama/ north Florida you can't swim in the winter but on good days you can cruise in comfort.

If you meant Florida, My parents lived on the west side of Rt 27, directly across from Lake Jackson. My Brothers and I water skied there in February. Local fishermen thought we were nuts. Of course
We young Ohio boys considered it warm. :)

That's the one, has an old 1950s vintage Air Force jet trainer on display , it's been there since before I was born.

Re: Transom repair

I believe you two are talking about two different locations. I lived on Lake Jackson, on US 27, just a couple miles north of Tallahassee, FL, for 30 years. I also fished the other Lake Jackson--80 miles west of Tallahassee---in Florala, Alabama. Florala and that Lake Jackson straddle the FL/AL state line, and there is no route 27 anywhere around there. Florala is a quaint little town that is somewhat lost in time, and well off the beaten path.

My Uncle, on my Dad's side, was stationed in Sebring during WW2. He trained B17 pilots at the airport there.

I think that Jet trainer is at the VFW post on rt. 17 ?

I forgot about that Lake Jackson. I fished that lake 30-40 years ago when I lived in Winter Haven/Lake Alfred FL, and US 17 and US 27 both go through Sebring. It is or was full of hydrilla and coots. If I'm not mistaken there are at least 4 Lake Jacksons in Florida. It has been a while, but it seems like I remember an old trainer on display in the area.

You might be right, the lake Jackson I go to is on the Alabama Florida line in Florala. It is a 500 acre natural lake circle shaped. Not a big lake but clean and very beautiful and during the week almost no boats, a great ski lake.
