Transom Replacement

Has anyone replaced the transom on a bassboat? if so, was it hard, how did you do it and what steps did you take. in the prosses of replacing mine on a Nitro 180 FS, going to use coosa composite.. any info on this will be helpfull too.

just an update, have all the plywood removed and ready to install new transom.. will be using the revolutionary Coosa Composite "Blue Water 20".. Hope to have pics with in the next few weeks..

Coosa Composite is a small company that makes composite board from a combination of fiberglass and foam compressed. they have all different sizes.. A local boat repair place put me on to them, I went to several local places and they wanted two to three times as much as Coosa did.. so I purchased the Blue Water 20 from Coosa Composite.. The baord I'm using has a strength of 20lbs per square inch.. and it is to be waterproof.. <br /><br />If you want more info about this product, please Call Chap @205-663-3225, he is a sales man at Coosa that helped me, real nice people to deal with.. I received my composite today, not quite what I expected.. got the first layer installed.. a bit worried about the blue water 20 though.. doesn't seem real strong.. will see after the epoxy dries good and after the second layer is installed.. <br /><br />Has anyone else had any experiences with coosa composite? I will be hanging an Evinrude 150 on this, want to make sure it's going to hold..

have the second layer installed, the transom is now solid as a rock, this coosa composite product is amazing.. hope to have the majority of the fiberglass work done by the end of this weekend.. <br /><br />how do you post pics on this site?

I am at the final stage of my transom replacement, the gel coat.. hope to have it finished by the end of this week.. turned out great.

help!!, tried to brush the gel coat on, looked terrible.. had to remove all of it.. any tips on gel coating or should I just pay someone to do it.. it's a small area, never had any experience in gel coating before.. the fiberglass work was a peace of cake compared to this..

Haxsaw,<br /><br />You can go to www.fishingworks.com and post your pictures there for free. You just have to register with them. Then it’s really easy to post them here.
