Re: transom/scuppers

I chiseled the flared end off carefully then used a socket or something to drive it out the other side. As far as replacing them you can buy the tubes but you need a flareing tool also. Someone that has access to a cnc lathe should mass produce them and sell them here. Seems
like they cost about $45. Someone may have a cheaper way but this is the only way I know to make it look like factory.

If your not comfortable with the chisel idea just pry part of it away from the transom skin and then use a pair of needle nose pliers.

A large uni-bit might be able to take the edge off, if your really careful.

Re: transom/scuppers

I used a flat screwdriver, a punch and a set of pliers to get mine out this afternoon! Wasnt super easy! but could have been worse!
I actually thought about using a unibit on it, but watched a utube video showing tapping the edge in on itself and pounding it through with a punch.
Any suggestions on where affordable place to purchase replacements from?

this tool for crimping the drain tube is from another iBoater:

FlaringTool.jpg

Lots of people use the plastic version, using 5200 to bed it into the hole, and swear they'd never use anything else. Ezmobee I know has used the plastic. W/ it there is no need for the flaring tool.

I was at a marine store today and they had both kinds. The prices were not bad on both and the parts guy told me to get all my dimensions and he can have them the next day in plastic, brass or aluminum. Around 10-30$ range depending on what I require. Im going to get a set in aluminum.

Re: transom/scuppers

thanks for the replies guy's. I like jb's idea using the brass tubes although green ain't going to be my favorite color a bit down the road...salt water. I spent a while online the other day looking for a reasonable replacement for the originals and didn't find anything I was happy with. SCMike, where did you see replacements at? Also for the record I have a guy looking into making replacement Starcraft emblems for the side of the boat and and cheering him on and told him there would be a market for them with this crazy Starcraft crowd on here. thanks again guy's

Re: transom/scuppers

I was in east side marine in springfield Illinois, I will let you know what price will be once I order them. I'm still a few steps away from needing them, just happy to find a place to get them!

Were on the same page with the Starcraft emblems too! I have been talking with an old freind that does metal work and has a machine. I was thinking of just cutting new emblems out of aluminum and then just polishing it out.

Let me know about your emblem details, always open to ideas and or emblems probably the same!

The plastic drain tubes work just fine when bedded in some 5200.

The link above has the original AL replacement, as well as brass and plastic. $2-$5 depending on brand/material. Here's the Moeller tool, although JB's works just as good for less $. http://www.iboats.com/Boat-Parts-Accessories/dm/*******.511323370--current_category.moeller%20flar--keywords.moeller%20tool--search_in_category.f--session_id.827858285

Capt. - A few guys have used the plastic type and swear by them. And no special tools needed. Just use lots of 3M 5200.

asking the computer the wrong word...drain,drain,drain
We all get bit when we can't think of the right word. Thing-a-ma-bob works with my wife because we read each others minds - except when it's important, then I'm wrong. LOL

LOL, GA yeah the right word goes a long way. Glad my ignorance could be of some help to ya SCmike. Might go the plastic route, we'll see. Kinda fond of going back the way she was but...
