hey the boat im restoring. a 15 ft fiberglass bow rider it only had a 3/4 plywood transom. which held a 70 hp evenrude. most i have read usaly uses 2 3/4 plywood transom. but this would not give enough room for my cap to go back on. what im asking is 3/4 thick enough to hold a 70 hp evenrude

I wouldn't do it and it sounds like the boat is overpowered, what does the coast guard maximum capacities sticker say?

It depends on the glass. How thick is the outer skin of the boat and the inner skin? How old is the boat? Who's the mfg? 70 hp is usually the max. hp for most vintage 15 ft boats.

What does the top cap connection look like? How thick of a transom would the top cap joint accommodate?
