Transom Thickness?

Hi folks,

I'm going to have to add a couple of transom eyes to my boat (to accommodate a set of Smart Tabs). I've never drilled through the transom before, so I don't know how thick the transom is.

I have a '96 OMC Cobra/Volvo SX outdrive. I assume that most of the transoms are the same thickness. But, before I order the new bolts, I need to know how long they need to be.

Thanks,

johnbo

Re: Transom Thickness?

You can get a good idea by measureing the bilge drain hole thickness John.

Doh! Don't know why I didn't think of that. I was even looking at it when I was trying to figure out how to mount the Smart Tabs.

Thanks,

Re: Transom Thickness?

Generally,....... Most transoms are 2" thick,........

Just Remember,........
Be Very Sure of What's on the Inside of where the Drill is going to come thru........
