transom thickness

I have a 1986 fourwinns and I am putting a new swim platform on and am wanting to go all the way through the transom with some carriage bolts. How thick is the transom?

Would the carriage bolts be made of stainless steel?

yes they will be stainless I just want to know how long of a drill bit and carriage bolt.

2, 1/2" to 3" Should get it done.......<br /><br />The Spec for a Mercruiser transom thickness at the outdrive is 2" to 2, 1/8th".......
