Poly Resin is great for most purposes. If it needs to be really strong, use epoxy resin. I also like to do a monolithic job, where all the wood and cloth is applied at one time. It will be stronger than several applications.

Might ask a Mod to combine this transom to hull thread w/ your other 1:
Transom to hull?

PL & epoxy will work, but take longer to cure then poly resin based PB. If you use PL for any portion of the build, it needs 72hrs minimum to cure & off gas before covering it w/ resin & glass.

If you use epoxy, any further glass work will need to be epoxy based. Poly resin & gelcoat don't adhere well to epoxy. That's why eph used the epoxy to bed the transom (per his post in the other thread I linked) and then suggested PB for the stringers. Epoxy also needs time to fully cure (depending on what part B hardener you use) before you could unclamp the transom & finish it's glass work.

Good luck on your project.

Where in western WV?

Not recently, but thru there a bunch in the last 3 years. Primarily sales calls at the VA in Huntington.

You'll need to use a trowel on the PL to make sure you get good coverage & bonding.

I think WoodOnGlass posted in your other transom/hull thread. The transom clamps in his stringer/transom/deck linked graphic work great.
