Transom trim

Hello;

The plastic trim along the top of the transom needed attention as did the seam it covered. I removed the trim, scraped, cleaned and sealed. Then I painted and re-applied the cover strip. I did this on both sides but only show one side here. I know my tilt motor is in bad shape but little steps. This is all new to me.

Nice job. And it will go a long way to keeping the water and rot out of the transom.

What did you use as a sealer?

Where did you get the replacement trim?

Thanks... the trim is the original just cleaned up and painted. I used the forum recommended 3m 4200 series marine adhesive. Yup the goal was to keep the transom dry as possible.
Next up the cowling gets a makeover... here is a before shot. Any tips? I want to try and save the logos but maybe to much effort.

The plastic graphic can be removed with a heat gun and scraper. A hair dryer may even do it. I don't know where new graphics can be found. I would scrape it clean and paint. Spray Rustolium should hold up. Can do a clear coat for added protection.

Yup, seems scraping and wire brushing off the graphics will be my first approach. Once down to base coat I was going to brush on a waterproof primer. I was also thinking of brushing on the final coat.., this not wise? As for the pin and stripes I was thinking of spraying that part as you stated with rustoleum... a mask and shoot attempt.

The graphics are shot I doubt you can save them.

I would just paint the motor and them maby have some Vinal lettering done and apply it on your new paint job.

Budget Signs down on Indian School Does a great job.

Maby just look online for the original FORCE logo's and do it that way. It will be totally custom and look a lot better then it does now.
