check the steering pin and the fitting where the pipe hose (that goes to the water pump on engine) attaches to the inner transom assembly.
But...the above is only relevant, in the assumption that the most obvious, common and concerning reason of all is not at play. That would be that the bellow/rubber gaitor(s) have failed. I won't mention things like the transom seal or even the transom itself failing, without knowing the condition or history of the boat.

It can come from a million places.

Leaking while just sitting? Leaking while running? Both? Top bottom left right? Gotta give us a little more to work with or we guessing.

thanks for the reply. i removed the engine last week and will do some exploring. I'm hoping its one of those you mentioned. I hope its not the transom shield itself. i will try and send video.

What engine and leg?

I mean if you got the engine out I would think about just resealing the shield.

I would think that if the bellows are ok then it's most likely "Y" pipe seal or equivalent if it's a 4 banger IMO

i keep the boat on trailer, in a home made boatel out of weather. it started dripping slowly two seasons ago. this season it was dripping a lot faster. motor not running. makes no difference in flow i could barely see , but looked like drips were visible under the exhaust Y tube going through the transom. of course that is just the bottom of the flow.
engine is Volvo 5.8L 1996 outdrive is Volvo duo prop. I know it is not coming from motor.

I would remove the Y-pipe and check the condition of the sealing surfaces. If good, install a new seal. You may want to consider drilling into the transom from the inside near the outdrive near the bottom to confirm the wood is dry and you don't have any transom rot. Reseal the hole when done.

Looks like the seal is item 67 below.

Thank you guys for your input, sorry for the delay getting back to you all. life happened. Turns out the transom shield was badly eaten up by electrolysis and salt water. ( the grounding wires were not connected ) the seal channel at the Y pipe was deteriorated and leaking and the Y pipe had a hole in it. Minor damage to transom. I replaced the transom shield assembly and Y pipe I purchased on EBAY. I have not been able to test it yet. While I had the motor out, I had it rebuilt because of some small backfire issue. But that did not solve the problem ,but that's another issue I plan on starting this weekend to figure out what's going on. That's on my other post.
