Transport for outboard!!!!help

Hi guys
New to the forum.your help will be greatly appreciated
Planning to buy a 10 hp 4 stroke for a small SIB.
My question is:can the motor be transported in the boot of a jeep or it has to be in an upright position?

You can lay them on their side. My 4-stroke has rubber spacers on one side of the motor so it can be laid down on that side.

All the engine I have seen uncrated are laying down, they are settingon the transom mount but yes you can lay them down.

There is a side you have to put them on but there should be a sticker or some indicator as to which side that is.

The bigger question is, how are you going to get an outboard in a boot, how big are your feet?!?

Kidding of coarse, I myself am IRISH, sort of so GO IRISH!

Maybe good idea to drain all fuel out of motor before laying it down so it don't leak out of carb, into crankcase or into transport vehicle. About a 4" thick slab of foam rubber would be good to lay it on so it don't get banged up. Good Luck!

Just to clarify, you can transport a 4 stroke on its side as long as you lay it on the CORRECT side. Wrong side will put oil places where you don't want it. I think the manual will specify.
