Re: Treat yuck in stray cat's eye.
I recognize some of you guys from the boating forum, so I will say this with a certain degree of affection, but some of these ideas are downright friggin' barbaric. In line with some of these, I'd like to add the use of a soldering iron. That ought to cure it.
All kidding aside, the boric acid idea, in the right concentration, is not a bad ocular eyewash. The Terramycin however, a tetracycline, would be a good empirical choice, as this problem could be bacterial in nature, which may respond to tetracycline, and it may be chlamydial in nature, which may also respond to the tetracycline. If it is one of the viral causes, the anti viral ocular medications may be more expensive than a trip to the vet.
Use the Terramycin three tines a day for at least ten days. Oh, by the way, I'm a currently practicing veterinarian, and have been for the past twenty-two years. Good luck...to you and that cat!
