Treated wood?

I've heard throu the grape vine, if i may say that, that the professionals ust ATF (automatic transimission fluid) to treat the wood. is this better than varnish, stain, ect... what is everyone oppinion on this supposed theroy?

This is akin to using used motor oil to stain wood as you sometimes see in furniture from Mexico (among other places). The ATF is actually used to remove discoloration in wood, but leaves it untreatable and more flammable than it was in the first place. Untreatable unless you want to stain it with used motor oil. Which you don?t.

Bad idea.

You can do it, but it is a bad idea.

Again, just to be clear ? bad idea.

Actually, it's not ATF, it's Antifreeze. The green stuff that kills cats and dogs.

Soak the wood in it, let it dry out, and nothing wants to eat it anymore. It works.
