Re: Tri Hull Question
My first boat was & is a tri hull. I have not had it on the water yet since I'm still fixing her up. I was curious as to why most people didn't like them as well. I have not taken mine out yet so I can't say how she rides. My friend who has been boating for years told me that tri hulls are good stable boats. He said that they are great for fishing since they are very stable & that they are great in calmer water. He did say that they are not so good in rough water though. This doesn't really matter to me since I only plan on using her on nice calm days at the lake, I'm not going to try to take her out on a day where there are 20 mph winds!
As far as the tri hulls being fairly cheap on craigslist, I personally think it's because most tri hulls are older boats. 60's, 70's & very early 80's for the most part. Are they even made anymore???
I picked mine up for $300 bucks & by the time I'm done fixing her up, even with the outdrive & interior parts, I shouldn't have any more than the $300 bucks into her as I found a parts boat & salvaged what I needed & sold the rest. It worked out good for me.
I really think the tri hulls are neat looking boats!
I think if you can find a really good deal on a tri hull then go for it, what the heck, if you don't like it then sell it & try to make a few dollars!
