Well I picked this boat up today at a yard sale for $100 have no idea of the exact make or model, but it looks like a fun project boat plus it came on the trailer, with the mercury 650 on it. If any one has any idea of the make/model please fill me in. For the price with a motor and trailer I couldn't walk away. Enen though I'm sure my fiance wishes I could have...

Cool looking boat.....mid 70's I'd guess... can you find the HIN on the transom or any tags on the hull?

Looks like a full blown resto... Did you try and turn the flywheel on the motor?

If ya got No paper, it ain't a project, cause ya can't register it...

Yes motor is not seized up, flywheel and prop spin freely. starter seloniod was MIA, and wiring harness was rotted and needs replacement. Both parts are on order. yes it will be a full restoration. There is only one plate I can find on the transome, however it it completely unreadable. Just trying to get a guesstimate. I am going to register it tomorrow. She might go as homemade with no identification, since thats what the previous reg said.

The paperwork calls it homemade, which it obviously is not. I was able to call the coast guard base near my house, they say it can be registered as homemade if enough modifications have been done to it. They also had it as homemade (based on the reg number), and recommended I register it the same way. They also recommended I bring it by the base for a weight rating/capacity estimate, but that needs to wait until it is registered. Unfortunatly for me without the HIN it can't be searched back any further than the last reg.

Thanks Rick. I forgot the DMV is closed today. But I should be ok.
Weather is miserable here, and this boat won't fit in my workshop so no floor work yet. I can't wait to get into this project.

Well the boat is registered as homemade. I have most of the floor removed. The floor and stringers were all rotted and water logged. There was no foam under the flooring. Should there be? Without knowing the make and model I don't know how to figure out if it requires foam under the flooring. Any suggestions?

Pretty much you have a clean slate to work with.... I would foam it so it can't sink to the bottom of the lake

That of course will come later.... Stringers and transom..... foam then deck.

I would first start with the motor to see if it runs.....

thanks Rick. I'm awaiting the parts still. So I figured I would work on what I can demo.. I figure if I work on it an hour a day it will be done soon so I can get out there and enjoy it. The weather has been hit and miss here so when it isn't too nice I go out there and work on it when it is nice however I've been getting my other boat out and doing some fishing.

to answer your question, it's a $100 boat.
