Hi all,

I finally purchased a 4 stroke and have to ask a silly question.

But first, my previos motor was a Mercury 200 2 stroke carb and when I first started it I had to prime the bulb, push the throttle part ways forward and press and turn the enricher key to start. would take several times to get it going.

Now, for the new/used motor that I bought (Suzuki) do I have to do anything of the above to start it. People are telling me it's like a car- just turn the key and nothing else.

Seriously, what is real answer.
Thanks so much!

it would depend on what kind of 4 stroke. we had a honda 8 hp. had to squeeze the bulb to fill the carb and pull the choke, also had a merc 135 hp 4 stroke. turned the key to start. had an electric choke just like a car, also had a fuel pump just like a car. we also have a yamaha 9.9 2 stroke. again squeeze the bulb and pull choke.

If it is an EFI Suzi all you have to do is pump the primer bulb, then turn the key.

If you would reveal the secret: what Suzi? we could give you a better answer.

Sorry about that- It is a 2002 Suzuki DF115hp long shaft.

Thanks everyone!

Is it true - hardly any smoke and super quiet idle. my mooring neighbors will be please with the no smoke at start up, if that is the case.

Yup. Pump the primer bulb and turn the key.

The 'puter enriches fuel for starting and warm-up. You will notice the idle speed drop slightly when the 'puter decides she is warmed up enough.
