Trigger on 1150 straight 6 (and others) - how it works?

Just looking to fulfil my curiosity about my possible dead trigger on my 1150.

I believe thanks to smart people in this forum...
Hall Effect induces current in a pick up coil from a field generating coil with a 6 slot chopping disk in between. 3 wires back to switch box.

Has anyone opened up a dead one of these to know which wire does what?

Is there any useful continuity test information to be found by putting a meter over any pair of the 3 wires?

Are we dealing with an AC current in the pickup coil and if so (big 'if' - cause i have no idea), how is it converted into a switchbox trigger, (or does the switchbox take the trigger as AC and convert it)?

Just curious.
