Saw a maybe 16' shallow V (actually sorta tri-hull-ish) fiberglass skiff boat for sale on the side of the road. Sorry, no camera available.

The Coast Guard tag identified it as Manufacturer: Trigon Boats, Division of BPI Inc Fiberglass Products, Howell, NJ. 40HP Max OB. Max weight 750. Max total - persons, motor, gear - 1165. Model 1591. Boat and (refurbed) trailer - $300. (No motor - needs a tiller-controlled OB)

Very solid boat. It appears maybe to have a self-bailing hull. The deck is not flat. It is fiberglass and weirdly mounded and curvy, apparently channeling deck water to depression cup in the deck next to a 1" or 1.5" hole in the bottom center of the transom, which is about 2" below the (bottom painted) water line. No plug and no indications that there should be a plug.

The deck appears to be raised mostly above the waterline (maybe with foam under it?), with the deck depression 'cup' below the waterline. Sort of like some 'unsinkable' Carolina Skiffs or Boston Whaler types.

Google reveals nothing. Anybody know anything about this boat?

Thanks,

Looking at Trigon -

Yes, back in the mid 1970's owned a 14' Trigon Boat. Unsinkable and foam-filled hull. Had 4 swivel seats each on own pedestal. Side-Console steering, starboard side. Interior deck had light blue/white textured coating for non-dkid. Very good quality, stable ride. Ran a 55HP Chrysler outboard.

Given as a gift when I was 14-years old. Addicted to the water and boating ever since. Docked at the north end of Barnegat Bay, NJ, just off the Metedeconk River.
