The raising and lowering of my outdrive is extremely slow. So I was wondering if I needed to replace my pump, or should I jsut bleed the system? Right when I hit the buttons to raise the out drive it starts out norman, but within a second or two it slows down to a crawl.

Sounds like you are low on fluid. If thats not it then make sure your battery has a full charge.Charlie

Sorry, it is a 1975 MerCruiser pre-alpha out-drive. It is being powered by a 165 hp straight 6.

check the fluid level like crazy said. Look in the the resevoir and make sure it is clean, no moisture. If the fluid is low, fill it up and bleed it. You probly need to bleed no matter what. Just keep plenty of fluid in it.
