Took my boat out today everything was working?

After I took boat out I lifted the motor to put in the lock so I can trailer it in the upright position and when I went to lower of onto the lock bar it wouldn't go down at all motor wouldn't even make noise!!

Could it be an electrical problem at the switch?

Should I take it apart and see if anything is loose?

What are the common problems with this situation?
Any help would be great.

Re: trim and tilt not going down?????

The link posted above should help; in my force 125 I was having a similar issue and it was the relays---switching between the 2 made the opposite direction work, but changing out the "bad" one didn't fix the problem...It has something to do with the relation of a common ground as I was told. Essentially the bad one was actually the opposite of the one that I thought. They are cheap enough and I got mine at pepboys (I'd change both to make sure they match)

It took me a while to figure that out and I had used the boat several times; the solution to put the engine down was to open the cowl, and have someone shake the relays while I pressed down on the trim switch....EVERYTIME.

Not embarrasing at all right? :)
