I have a '93 Chaparral 2200 SCR with Volvo Penta 5700.

I have trim but no tilt. When I press the tilt button on the throttle control there's no response. Any ideas on what could be the problem?

What model outdrive do you have? Is that VP 5700 supposed to be 570? If so, is it an A or B?

There should be a metal tag on the aft/port side of the engine block.
But I also need the model of your drive to know what trim system you have in it. You can find that on the upper gear box just aft of where the helmut bolts to the drive.

OK, thanks. I'll get the info but it may be a couple of days before I can get to the boat. Thanks for your help.

OK the engine is an 570 GL A/PS
The drive is a SX DP-C

I hope this is enough info. I assume the PS for the engine is power steering and the DP is for dual prop. I don't know what the rest of the letters mean.

But now I did it...

I pressed the trim button to the maximum up position and the drive went all the way up to tilt and now it won't go down. The pump cycles on and off on it's own but the drive wont' go back down. It even cycles with the key turned to the off position. I had to disconnect the battery to get it to stop. The tilt button still does nothing.

To make things worse I'm stuck in a marina, with a prop almost out of the water and can' even get it to the shop without a tow.

Re: Trim but no tilt

I don't even have a clue what you have.
There is a 570A or B, but no such thing as a 570GL. Of course there is a 5.7GL, but not from 93.
To make things worse, the SX drive is a single prop drive of one style, and a DP-C is a Duo Prop drive from an earlier era. They also have completely different trim systems.
I don't know about anyone else, but I don't have a clue what you have. Sorry.

Ok I think here's where I'm mixing things up. The dealer printed 5.7 GL/SX on the sales receipt.

But on the motor itself it says: 570 A/PS it's very light and the PS could be a P5 or maybe a P6 but I thought it was PS for power steering.
And the drive says DP-S. Since the prop is now almost all the way out of the water I can see it's a dual prop.

It sounds to me like the dealer wrote the wrong thing on the receipt.

I hope this straightens things out. Sorry for the confusion.
