Trim Cylinder Making Cracking Sound

The starboard side trim cylinder on my 115 inline 6 makes a creaking sound when the motor engages and dis-engages it. It seems like it's sticking a bit. I haven't overhauled these trim units before. Does this sound like a bad seal in the cylinder?

Thanks

Are you sure the cracking sound is inside the Ram..? Or could it be the upper bolt that the cylinder rotates on...if that bolt is not lubed often, it could be that the ram is hanging up on that bolt and binding and then breaking free and creating the cracking sound...

That noise is typically associated with air in the system.
