Mercruiser Alpha 1's.
So, I put my starboard outdrive back on the boat this morning after a full service, and now the trim cylinders won't retract the last inch. I disconnected them from the drive which goes all the way down smoothly. What is really weird is that both stop at exactly the same point, as if they are bottoming out.
I've checked both cylinder shafts for any foriegn objects, but they are both clean.
Any suggestions as to what may be going on here?
Thanks.

Don't think so. Seems to be independent of the outdrive position. They work just fine running from trailer position down, until the get within the last 1 inch of fully retracted and they won't go any further. You can hear the pitch of the trim pump change when they hit their lowest position.

Yes. Before I removed the outdrive for service the trim cylinders retracted far enough so that the drive would be in the full down position. Now they stop about an inch further out and so the drive won't go all the way down. I've tried them attached and dissatached from the outdrive and it's the same thing.....really weird. These trim cylinders are only about a year old.

Just a quick update: I extended the trim cylinders fully a few times while disconnected from the drive unit and then retracted them all the way and my problem is cured. Thanks again for all the input.
