1985 Sea Ray SRV300 Sundancer, twin 5.7L engines with Alpha 1 outdrives S/N's Starboard 0B796231 (Original), Port F 6910806 (replacement).

My boat is currently in the water and the starboard drive trim cylinder leaks fluid when operated. I'm looking to have the boat hauled out in May but, I wanted to gather all of the parts I need beforehand. I'm looking to do my outdrive maintenance, boot replacements and shift cable replacements. My main question is, I found two part numbers for each trim cylinder. Starboard Cylinders 98704A3 or 14034A3 and Port Cylinders 98703A3 or 14035A3. Can anybody tell me what the difference is between them?
Thank you...

Re: Trim Cylinders

Do you mean the part numbers or Port versus Starboard?

Re: Trim Cylinders

I'm looking for the difference between the part numbers themselves. For example, the 98704A3 and 14034A3 are for the starboard cylinders for each drive but what is the difference between the two. Both numbers seem to be for Alpha 1's 1984 - 1990.
Thank you.

Ayuh,... I believe the differences are Where the pre-formed hyd. lines attach to the cylinders,...
'n 1 is a 1" piston, 'n the other is 1, 1/4" piston...

Re: Trim Cylinders

I found a note in a mercruiser Alpha manual - Part numbers 14034-1 and 14035-1 trim cylinders are 3/4 inch longer to achieve 6 degrees additional lift used by later Alpha One drive units. "R, MR and Alpha One, as well as Bravo drive units, use the shorter trim cylinders (part numbers 98703-1 and 98704-1)". If only they could have told the exact year they switched...
