I took the 2 steel breaded hoses off of the trim cylinders. Should I be able to push in and pull out the trim cylinders by hand or are they frozen up? They wont twist or turn or do anything. This boat hasnt been run in 15 years and I'm trying to figure out what I need to get it running again. Thanks!

The Gen II cylinders are sometimes a bit stiff, but previous models, especially MC-1 cylinders should be easily moved by hand... If it hasn't been moved for 15 years  then I'd bet the end caps have corroded and need replacing....

You think the end caps are corroded? I did a quick search and the whole trim arm would cost me $500 for the pair. End caps about $50.00. I wouldnt have to replace the whole arm, Correct?

Re: trim cylinders

Open them up and see... If they have been left without fluid in them, all bets are off...

Re: trim cylinders

I soaked them in WD-40 and took some channel locks to them. Not budging. They are solid. In fact, so solid I might use them as jack stands on my next rebuild.

I give enough of my money to the Chinese through harbor freight tools. Lets see what the used market has.

Re: trim cylinders

Did you try extending them with the trim pump? Leave the aft anchor pin out and give it a shot. You would be surprised what 3000psi can do.
