My 1988 Bayliner 5.0L, OMC Cobra does not have a trim gauge. I've seen pics from other forum members with the exact same boat that has a factory trim gauge on the right hand side of the instrument panel cluster. What would it take to add one? Should I even try to locate a OEM version? Should I condsider an aftermarket version? What are the pitfalls of trying to do this with either version. I want to know whats going on back there at WOT!

Re: Trim Gauge for an OMC

Go to this webpage Teleflex and scroll down, on the right side you will find installation instructions, go down further to Trim Gauges and all the info you will need is there. However you will most likely find that the trim sender is mounted on your Cobra but I really doubt if it is still working after all these years. I'm not sure if Bayliner would have run the wires all the way up to the dash and just not installed the gauge (famous for that) but you can check behind the engine you will see a double black 2 wire harness coming through the transom mount just below where the steering bar attaches, follow the wires and see. You can meter the wires to see if the sender is working or not. If it needs replacing the boat has to be out of the water.
