I don't know if anyone can help me, but I really have my fingers crossed.
Can anyone tell me about this gauge? I believe it is OEM gauge. I need a replacement, and really like the way this gauge looks, and use to work.
All I know is that it is from a 1987 Dixie Bandit with a OMC Cobra I/O. I REALLY beg, if you know how to track down a part, please help me. I have pictures below of the face, the wire hook ups, and whats left of a part number. Thanks in advance!

You are correct, lol the sender is bad, I made a video and posted it for everyones openion. Watch it here... http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=355378
Would love another openion.

I purchased another sender, but I also believe the gauge is bad. I think I popped the internal fuse (if it has one) trying to test it. It use to read full up, or "2". now the needle does nothing but sit all the way down. Its ok though because the light didn't work either even before I tried testing it, and "popped" it.

UPDATE*** After 300+ Phone calls, I finally tracked one down in a marina (sent me pictures). It has been sitting on the shelf ever since 1985. Lots and lots of dust! I now know it IS an OMC gauge, and the FULL part number is 174337.

PS!!!

PS!!!

Just wanted to share with you guys...

While trying to track down this stupid thing, believe it or not, I even got the privlage* of talking on the phone to the Owner/Engineer/Designer/Etc of "Dixie Boat Works", (The company that made my boat back in '87, and went "under" quite a few years ago) That was kind or a thrill. Maybe its just me, but talking to the 81 year old fellow who made my favorite toy was a honor!

How were you trying to test it? Only way I would test it is to apply different resistors across the inputs and I really doubt you could damage it by even grounding it.

Re: Trim Gauge help

I kinda like how it has that "Tilt" range in addition to the trim scale, thats pretty amazing you were able top acquire that with all those calls.
Kinda neat that you got to talk to that older fellow as well.

Dixie Boat Works, I'm guessing it was in the south ?
