Trim gauge stuck in the up position

I have a 1999 Regal commodore 242 with a volvo penta 5.0GL and a SX-M. The gauge is stuck at the up position.

Can anyone tell me where the sending unit is located and wiring, and how to troubleshoot.

Its on the starboard side of the alpha drive towards the top. Its a round thing about the size of a hockey puck. Have someone in the boat with the power on watching the gage. Trim the outdrive all the way down. unscrew the two screws holding the sensor down, and rotate to see if the gage changes. Now adjust the trim sensor until the needle on the gage lines up with the bottom line in the gage...tighten screws...should be all set.
