I was looking at my boat wondering why there is a Trim/Tilt sender and no gauge. So I'm gonna install one. Now the question, I get 13-170 Ohm range going up and down, but, How far should the outdrive move in that range? It seems that the drive only moves 1/5th or 1/4th of the total travel in that range. I'm wondering if thats correct? It's a 87 OMC cobra hooked to a 4.3 2bbl. from what I've read the senders correct resistance level is 0-200/ +or- 10 OHMS. THANKS!

Re: TRIM GAUGE TRAVEL

I have an 88 OMC Cobra 3L in a Four Winns 160, also with a sender but no gauge. Finally decided to get one (Teleflex), bored a hole in the instrument panel, hooked it up (sensor wire was already there) and applied power. Gauge had a reverse indication. Seems like I got one intended for a Johnson though being assured by the clerk that it would work with an Cobra  . Returned that one and am waiting for the correct one to come in.<br />The resistance range seems right as the Teleflex web site shows a 10-167 (down-up) ohm resistance range for Cobra/Volvo/Merc. But like I said I don't have a gauge yet to see what the travel is (just a big 2" hole  ). The sensor is also adjustable to supposedly match the gauge to the travel.
