Just replaced my trim gauge oem 174679. The old 1 was not doing anything at all, it was stuck on the center position, even when grounding it out. The new one is not working either, with key on it goes to the max position , when the key is off it goes back to about 3/4 position. Ive check the ohms res for both sender and gauge they are reading properly as per my manual. Ive bypassed the trim control box , Checked continuity with the sender and gauge ie; black and white wires with the tracers, Tried to eliminate any bad wires by disconnecting each plug along the way to the control box, checked for power at the gauge , even tried another sender. probably more at least 3 times!!!!! still gauge doesnt want to work , Any ideas ? Does the motor have to run ?

Re: trim gauge

Most of us don't use the trim guage.
Its addressed in the service manual if you really wanna fix it.

I think trim guages are better suited for elec trim tabs where you have a tab on each side of the transom. I can see if my engine is trimmed just by looking.

I ended up using the trim wiring for a temp guage instead.
