Hey there,
First post here fellas. My mechanic had me spent a load of money on my new to me boat. My trim gauge wasn't working so he suggested changing out the sending units. After pulling the boat out this spring, all was well with the gauge- worked like it should. We launched our boat, and drove it to our slip. By the time we arrived, the gauge wasn't working again. I called the mechanic and he thinks that the gauge is faulty. I am thinking it is outside the boat in the water. What do you guys think?? I really hate throwing money after something when the mechanic is guessing at what's wrong. Any way of checking the gauge before I buy a new one?? Thanks for your help.

Re: Trim Gauge

The gauge is a bog standard 33-240Ω gauge, the same as most gauges you find in cars.. Many years ago I built a test box for all the gauge types.. For me, checking a gauge is simple. If you have a friendly auto-sparky local, take the gauge to him and ask him to check it for you... Tell him it's a 33-240Ω gauge...
