Problem: Trim guage not working.

Engine/Outdrive: 1991 Merc 350Mag w/ Alpha MR/I outdrive

Diagnosis: 1. Replaced trim guage with no new results. 2. Checked wiring/continutity with starboard side trim limit switch/sensor - ok, checked continuity with port side trim limit swith - none.

I can't find where the Port side wires go and not sure if they go all the way to the trim indicator at helm. The starboard goes to the trim pump.

Is the Port side the one that sends signal to the trim indicator? If so shouldn't I have continuity between both wires from the sensor? I'm not sure how to replace the wires from the engine compartment to the sensors without removing the entire outdrive, is there another way. I have a suspicion that the wires got pinched when I had the bellows and gimbal bearing replaced.

Thanks for help in advance.

Chris

Re: Trim Guage Not functioning

Starboard side sender is the one for the guage. The port side is the trim limit switch. I just ordered the set of senders for my boat. You have to remove the out drive, and the gimbal ring. to get at the one small bolt that holds the bracket the wires go thru the transom plate.
