Trim Guage

I Am Installing A Trim Guage On My 1984 70 Hp Evinrude
And I Want To Know If The Main Wiring Harnes Carries A Wire
From The Trim Sending Unit To The Control Box And If So What
Color Is The Wire. Is The Wiring There Even If No Guage Is Present?

You will generally have 2 wires on the sender, a brown with white stripe which goes to the gauge sender terminal, and black to ground. The gauge will also have a ground, a blue wire for the light, and a purple wire going to the ignition switch. You will need a model specific gauge, 1 ohm for up and 88 ohms for down. This may help.

Lol Gary, after selling off most of my Harem of boat/motors, have alot of time on my hands now

Currently on the hunt for a 90's 18 to 20 ft cuddy and (possibly) an older wooden boat for restoration that I would like to put a Javelin on. Just have to get the ok from the boss/accountant (wife).



I think I would look pretty good in this old wreck! Hopefully Ill be picking the brains of the 50's vintage guru's in the near future.

One More Question
Where Would Be The Best Place To Acces These Wires
Are They In The Main From The Motor Or In A Seperate Harness
That Carries The Wires To The Trim Motor..
The Bundle Coming From The Trim Motor Has 5 Wires Two That Plug
Into The Trim Switch On The Control Box And 2 That Are Loose
A Black And A White One What Are These
