Re: Trim guage

Two things, one if you are going to spend that kind of money for a boat don't you do any research on it to see what is included? the second thing I would say is that if you do not know how to use one or just don't use it why would you spend more money to add one? I that is the case save your money and enjoy your new boat.

Re: Trim guage

I can't believe that a Ranger Boat didn't come with the Trim Gauge. That's pretty weird if you ask me, considering the type of boat and it's intended use. But then again, as was stated above, I would have been looking for it when I bought it. Just seems odd to me that it didn't come with it. I'd go ahead and have one installed even if it costs you a little more. See if the dealer will help you out a bit.

musky3,I'd go ahead and have one installed .Once you become accustomed to the out of hole and trimmed out handling capabilities of your new set-up , a trim guage will be a handy item to have.Once adjusted properly it will allow you, at a glance, to know the position that the motor is in when encountering intermittent wakes or water texture changes and enable you to adjust trim accordingly to keep the boat under control, particularly at higher rpms.

Re: Trim guage

musky3
Was this a Package deal, with the Motor already on the boat or did you specify a certain Motor and "Build" a package? Reason I ask is, it may have been on you or the dealer to recommend a gauge if you picked the powerplant, Ect. I'm thinking that some people don't order a motor with power T&T and it would be of no use for the dealer to install a gauge in that case. But if the Package came with a T&T motor, I would think someone should have brought up the question about the gauge. As I said, being how you just spent a chunk of change at the dealer, he may be willing to work with you on the gauge if you approach him in a polite manner. Best I can think of...

musky3,

Adding the guage is an easy do. It probably just plugs in somewhere.

As far as I'm concerned, the only essential guages are:

Tach.
Trim
Water Pressure
Fuel

A voltmeter is a nice addition. Forget about the speedo., especially if you have GPS or fishfinder speedo.
