Trim guage

I tight my trim guage was broken since the needle was pegged with the key off, but when I started the engine I looked down and it was working again.

Is that normal, or is it an indication of a wiring problem?

I would not worry about what the gauge reads when it's off. Does it read correctly when powered up?

It does read correctly when running.
