Trim help

I bought this 1983 75 hp Johnson outboard which the trim does not seem to work. I was told by the previous owner that i probably need to drain or bleed the lines in order to work, is this true? any advice will be appreciated.

have someone hold the switch, while you lift up on the motor, the lock the motor up, fill the reservoir, then release motor run all the way down, then back up, you may have to help it. and repeat. fill reservoir. after it works on it's own, cycle it up and down 5 or 6 times. if this does not work,, you have other problems.
