Hey, all -
I just put in my Nautolex yesterday (pics in my thread soon) and so far it looks great.
But, I have several edges to secure.. the glue will hold the vinyl down, but unless I mechanically secure the edges, I will end up with places to trip on.
What I was thinking was I could use aluminum extrusions.. in the case of the fuel tank hatch a flat piece about 3 inches across and six feet long would cover both edges nicely.
I had also thought maybe of using some of the flooring hardware like is used in houses - there are specially made metal strips that form a boundary between eg. wood floors and carpet.
I have to do something for the butt jointed seams on either side of my fuel tank hatch (down the center of my deck) plus I want to cover the seam where the nautolex meets the carpet on the sides of the boat (about 3 inches above the deck - the nautolex goes up the sides a little).
The joint on the fuel tank hatch has a little gap I'd like to cover too, where the hatch is about 1/4" too narrow.. my stringers curve out a bit I guess.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'll post pics soon, but I'm using the "shark" nautolex (basically gray with black flecks) and burgundy carpet and vinyl, and the aluminum would be the natural color. I've been told I have no personal taste or style, so your opinions/suggestions are welcomed.
Erik
