I have a 1999 boat with a 5.0L and alpha one drives (2) The starboard trim indicator is at times erratic - the needle on the gauges jumps. I have checked the connections at the gauge. Have traced the wires in side the boat all the way back and have found no problems visually.

How do you check the sending unit?

any other hints??

Thanks
Pete

Disconnect the wires and put an ohm meter in place of the guage.

It's that easy.

TMD

Connect the port side sender to the stbd. gauge. If it is erratic the sender is bad, if it isn't the gauge is the problem.
