So after my last outing with my boat, I noticed that the trim down was really slow. I decided to drain the fluid and replace with new. after dong this, it seems to have air in the line so I bleed the line. It seems to be working very smooth now however, if I trim all the way up, it will not trim down. It make a clicking noise and I have to bang on the motor a little to get it to come back down. Is the motor shot?

What trim system do you have?

If your getting a click and the motor does not come on, then it can be a bad connection, relay or motor.

That's what my mid 80's vintage Johnson did. I cleaned the brushes and amature then lubed the motor bearings AFTER I did all the electrical checks as suggested by AllDodge.

Not sure if you can tell from this picture.

Oh and outboard trim system.

They work similar as I/O does, check out what Stumpalump mentioned. Check connections, and clean contacts. If that doesn't work, check that the relay is making connection when switch is pressed. If it does then pull the motor and see if you can clean brushes
