Re: trim limit switch on a bravo 1

Welcome to IBOATS.

Do you have the official Merc. service manual?

The manual will indicate you need to move the bellhousing to the side to get to the bolt but some very astute guys have made specially bent tools to take the bolt out. My mobile mechanic I was using a couple years ago replaced mine without removing the bellhousing using some swivels and flexible extentions.

Search here and you'll find some ideas.

I have replaced the trim limit and sender without dismantling the drive/bellhousing. I used a 1/4" drive socket with a u-joint and extension. The outdrive needs to be placed in the full down position and turned hard to port.

Then you can remove the existing wires, replace the senders. There is a mating grommet on each wire that is held tight to the transom assembly by a bolt & plate combination. That's the tricky part. . . don't drop the bolt as you are re-installing it.
