I am trying to clean up, and organize some wires on my 1974 302 888 Merc. and noticed that the Purple and Blue wires that should be running to the trim limit switch are bypassing the switch and are just connected together to complete the circuit. Well, went searching for the trim limit switch (on the sterndrive....right??) and could not find one. Is this a problem? Do I need one and if so where can I find one?

Thanks

Re: Trim Limit Switch

Its probably been bypassed due to rotten wires out at the drive. Id not worry about it. Just do not raise the drive to high while the engine is running. To replace the switch you now have to buy the kit. Back in the early days they did not have trim limit switches. Mercrusier needs to use better wires to keep them from rotting. They have the same problems with the wiring on the older outboards also.
