Trim limit switches

Is it possible to wire the trim pump without the trim limit and trim gauge wires hooked up? I know it's a pretty good job to replace these and wonder if you can bypass them. The trim limit switch wiring on my 79 mercrusier 120 is rotten.

Just make a short jumper with a bullet connector on each end and put it where the connections for the limit switch would go. The gauge is independent of anything else and doesn't affect the pump in any way.
