trim manifold

I have a 95 Harris Legend FlotDeck. It has a Yamaha stern drive. The hydraulic trim doesn't work, there is a leak in the engine compartment. The hoses go under the engine and driveshaft and there is no way to get a hand in there to work on it. My thought is that I would put a hydraulic manifold above the transom plate and drill holes through the transom to pass the hydraulic lines to the outdrive. If I fix the hoses that are there that would involve pulling the engine and a Yamaha technician said that is a six hour job. The engine number is 000473 and the lower unit is 002427. I have no way of knowing what year the engine and lower unit were built.

Also if anyone knows where to get a good manual for Yamaha stern drives. I would appreciate a heads up.

Thanks in advance.

Re: trim manifold

Ayuh,...Yamaha drives are pretty much an Unknown commodity around here, so consequently, so is Info on 'em...

Are you sure there's not a hyd. manifold bolted to the bottom of the transom shield, like a Merc,..??

I wouldnt be drilling holes thru the transom to run hydrolic lines. You can get manuals for the yamaha stern drive on ebay. Search yamaha stern drive on you'll see them. They are around 30 bucks. is it a 4 cylinder?

Re: trim manifold

It's a 5.7 Gm engine.

There is a hydraulic manifold... under the drive shaft at the transom. I would have to pull the engine to get to the hydraulics.

My idea is to buy or make a hydraulic manifold, and put it above the transom plate at the top of the outdrive. Then it would only need to resist splashing not full time under water.
