I'm trying to find a new trim motor for my '86 Force 125. Because it's electrical it may only need a new relay or curcuit breaker. Is there anyway to check these before going to the expense of replacing the entire motor and pump (If I can find one)?

My first question is: Does it go in either direction or just one? There are two relays under the cowling, one for up, the other for down. If only one direction is working, you could check there first (on mine, I can swap them) If you think it is the motor, the brushes and a bimetalic relay are located under the cover of the tilt/trim motor. If you are machanically inclined, it is very easy to remove the cover and clean the split ring on the motor. (where the brushes contact it) With the cover off, you can check the bi metalic relay also-make sure it is clean.
The Seloc manual has a pretty good set of tests you can perform to rule out other components.

Good luck

Dosn't work in either direction.... the motor is drawing power from the battery..? will pull it apart and check other components
