trim motor replacement

I have a 1983 skeeter with a 150 black max motor. My trim motor is fried, took it apart and its black and smells like death. how do i know what to replace it with? if i get a motor and pump assembly how do i know it will lift my big v6? this is the type of motor and pump that are in the rear storage compartment, not on the engine itself. the motor has no identification numbers or letters. please help.
